Homemade Jalebi recipe

Ingredients:

1 cup self-rising flour
1/4 cup yogurt
1/4 cup water
A pinch of saffron strands (optional, for color)
Ghee for frying

For the sugar syrup:
1.5 cup sugar
1 cup water
1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder

Instructions:
1) Prepare the Sugar Syrup:In a saucepan, combine sugar and water.Heat it over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the syrup thickens slightly.Add cardamom powder and saffron strands if using, and then remove it from heat. Keep the syrup warm.
2) Make the Jalebi Batter:In a mixing bowl, combine self-rising flour and yogurt. Mix well.Add water gradually and stir until you have a smooth, lump-free batter. The batter should be thick enough to coat the back of a spoon.
3) Fry the Jalebi:Heat ghee in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat.Pour the jalebi batter into a squeezable bottle or a piping bag with a small nozzle.Squeeze the batter into the hot ghee in a spiral or pretzel shape. Fry until they are golden brown and crisp, turning them as needed.
4) Soak in Sugar Syrup:Remove the fried jalebi from the ghee and drain briefly on a paper towel.Dip them into the warm sugar syrup for a few seconds, ensuring they are well coated.Remove and place them on a serving plate.

Serve:Jalebi is best when served warm. Enjoy your homemade jalebi!Remember to be cautious when working with hot oil. You can shape the jalebi in any design you prefer.
