Classic Cranberry Sauce
- Combine cranberries, sugar, and water/orange juice in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves.
- Bring to a simmer, then cook for 10-15 minutes, or until cranberries burst and sauce thickens. Mash some cranberries for a smoother consistency if desired.
- Remove from heat and stir in orange liqueur if using. Let cool completely before serving.
Spiced Cranberry Sauce
- Combine cranberries, brown sugar, orange zest, cinnamon stick, whole cloves, and water in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves.
- Bring to a simmer, then cook for 15-20 minutes, or until cranberries burst and sauce thickens. Remove the cinnamon stick and cloves before serving.
- Stir in chopped pecans or walnuts if using. Let cool completely before serving.
Sweet & Tangy Cranberry Sauce
- Combine cranberries, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, and water in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir to combine.
- Bring to a simmer, then cook for 10-15 minutes, or until cranberries burst and sauce thickens. Mash some cranberries for a smoother consistency if desired.
- Stir in grated fresh ginger if using. Let cool completely before serving.
Notes
For best results, make the cranberry sauce at least a few hours ahead of time to allow the flavors to meld. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
