Preparation
- Toast all bread slices to a golden brown and allow them to cool completely; this prevents sogginess.
- Lay out all toasted bread slices on a large clean surface, such as a kitchen counter or multiple cutting boards, for efficient assembly.
Assembly
- Spread a thin, even layer of mayonnaise on one side of each toasted bread slice.
- On half of the bread slices, layer turkey or chicken, then lettuce, and a slice of tomato.
- Place a second mayonnaise-side-up slice of bread on top of these ingredients, creating the first layer.
- On this second layer, add bacon, more lettuce, and another slice of tomato.
- Complete each sandwich by placing the remaining mayonnaise-side-up bread slice on top.
Serving
- Carefully cut each assembled sandwich into four triangles, securing each with a cocktail pick if desired.
- Arrange the club sandwich quarters on platters and serve immediately with potato chips as a side.
Notes
For best results, prepare all ingredients ahead of time. This will streamline the assembly process and keep the bread from getting soggy. You can also lightly toast the bread beforehand and let it cool completely to ensure crispness. Consider using different types of bread for variety or adding a touch of Dijon mustard to the mayonnaise for extra flavor.
