Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 lbs green beans, frozen or fresh
  • 1 can (10.75 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1.33 cups French fried onions

Equipment

  • 1 1/2-quart casserole dish
  • large bowl

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grab a 1 1/2-quart casserole dish.
  2. If using fresh green beans, blanch them in boiling salted water for about 5-7 minutes, then drain and rinse with cold water; if using frozen, no need to thaw or cook beforehand.
Assembly and Baking
  1. In a large bowl, combine the green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper, mixing everything until well combined.
  2. Pour the mixture into your prepared casserole dish and then bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and heated through.
  3. Remove the casserole from the oven, sprinkle the French fried onions evenly over the top, and then bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the onions are golden brown and crispy.
  4. Let the casserole stand for a few minutes before serving to allow it to set slightly.

Notes

For an extra touch of flavor, consider adding a pinch of garlic powder or onion powder to the green bean mixture. You can also experiment with different types of fried onions, such as crispy jalapeños for a spicy kick.
