Preparation
- Cut the avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a medium-sized bowl.
- Mash the avocado flesh with a fork or potato masher to your desired consistency.
- Add the lime juice, diced red onion, chopped cilantro, minced jalapeño (if using), salt, and black pepper to the mashed avocado.
- Mix all the ingredients gently until well combined, being careful not to over-mix.
- Taste and adjust seasonings as needed, then serve immediately or cover and refrigerate.
Notes
For best results, use ripe but firm avocados. To prevent browning, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole before refrigerating.
