Method

Prepare the Filling
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grab a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, gently mix the blackberries, sugar, flour, and lemon juice.
  3. Pour the blackberry mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
Make the Topping
  1. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract until just combined, being careful not to overmix the dough.
Assemble and Bake
  1. Drop spoonfuls of the topping mixture over the blackberry filling.
  2. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  3. Let the cobbler cool slightly before serving, and optionally, serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the blackberry filling. If using frozen blackberries, do not thaw them before mixing; simply add them directly to the filling mixture and bake as directed.
