Meatloaf Mixture
  • 1.5 lbs ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 0.5 cup onion, chopped
  • 0.25 cup ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
Glaze
  • 0.5 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a loaf pan to prepare for baking.
Mixing
  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, 1/4 cup ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper, then mix thoroughly to ensure all ingredients are well incorporated.
Forming
  1. Transfer the meat mixture into the prepared loaf pan and form it into an even loaf shape.
Glazing
  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining 1/2 cup ketchup, brown sugar, and Dijon mustard, then spread this glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
Baking
  1. Bake the meatloaf for 55-65 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) at its thickest part, then let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For best results, do not overmix the meatloaf mixture as it can lead to a dry texture. A meat thermometer is recommended to ensure the meatloaf is cooked to a safe internal temperature.
