Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a loaf pan to prepare for baking.
Mixing
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, 1/4 cup ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper, then mix thoroughly to ensure all ingredients are well incorporated.
Forming
- Transfer the meat mixture into the prepared loaf pan and form it into an even loaf shape.
Glazing
- In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining 1/2 cup ketchup, brown sugar, and Dijon mustard, then spread this glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
Baking
- Bake the meatloaf for 55-65 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) at its thickest part, then let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
For best results, do not overmix the meatloaf mixture as it can lead to a dry texture. A meat thermometer is recommended to ensure the meatloaf is cooked to a safe internal temperature.
