Layering the Salad Jars
- Start by adding your chosen dressing to the bottom of each jar. This prevents the greens from getting soggy.
- Next, add harder vegetables like carrots, cucumbers, or bell peppers. These create a barrier for the dressing and stay crisp.
- Layer your protein source, such as grilled chicken, chickpeas, or hard-boiled eggs, on top of the harder vegetables.
- Add softer vegetables and fruits like tomatoes, berries, or corn. These should not sit directly in the dressing.
- Finally, top your jar with a generous portion of mixed greens or spinach. This layer will keep the greens fresh and appealing.
Storage and Enjoyment
- Seal the jars tightly with lids and store them in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. This makes them ideal for meal prepping.
- When ready to eat, simply shake the jar to distribute the dressing and ingredients, then pour into a bowl and enjoy. Alternatively, you can eat directly from the jar for convenience.
