Marinate the Steak
- In a bowl, combine orange juice, lime juice, soy sauce, minced garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper to create the marinade.
- Place the skirt steak in a shallow dish or a resealable bag, pour the marinade over it, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for enhanced flavor.
Cook the Carne Asada
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Remove the steak from the marinade, discarding the excess, and cook for 3-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer for desired doneness.
Rest and Serve
- Transfer the cooked carne asada to a cutting board and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing against the grain.
- Serve immediately with your favorite sides like warm tortillas, salsa, or guacamole.
Notes
For even more flavor, marinate the steak overnight. Adjust chili powder to your spice preference.
