Ingredients

Marinade
  • 1.5 lbs Skirt steak
  • 0.5 cup Orange juice
  • 0.25 cup Lime juice
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 3 cloves Minced garlic
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • 1 tsp Chili powder
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.25 tsp Black pepper
For Cooking
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil

Equipment

  • Large bowl
  • Shallow dish or resealable bag
  • Large skillet or grill pan
  • Tongs
  • Cutting board

Method

Marinate the Steak
  1. In a bowl, combine orange juice, lime juice, soy sauce, minced garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper to create the marinade.
  2. Place the skirt steak in a shallow dish or a resealable bag, pour the marinade over it, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for enhanced flavor.
Cook the Carne Asada
  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  2. Remove the steak from the marinade, discarding the excess, and cook for 3-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer for desired doneness.
Rest and Serve
  1. Transfer the cooked carne asada to a cutting board and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing against the grain.
  2. Serve immediately with your favorite sides like warm tortillas, salsa, or guacamole.

Notes

For even more flavor, marinate the steak overnight. Adjust chili powder to your spice preference.
