  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Wire rack
  • Toothpick

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
Mixing
  1. In a separate large bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork.
  2. Stir in the granulated sugar, egg, and melted butter until well combined.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  4. Fold in any optional add-ins like chocolate chips or chopped nuts.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For extra flavor, sprinkle a little cinnamon in with the dry ingredients. The riper the bananas, the sweeter your bread will be, so use bananas with plenty of brown spots.
