Cookies
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl, then set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving some space between each.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden, then let cool completely on a wire rack.
Frosting
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- If desired, divide the frosting into separate bowls and add food coloring to each.
- Once the cookies are completely cool, spread or pipe the frosting onto them.
Notes
For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg to the cookie dough or some almond extract to the frosting. Decorate with sprinkles for a festive touch!
