Ingredients
  

Cookie Dough
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Icing & Decorations
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk
  • food coloring Halloween colors
  • Halloween sprinkles

  • 1 teaspoon orange zest

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Mixing and Baking
  1. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract into the butter mixture.
  2. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  3. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness, then cut out Halloween shapes.
  4. Place cookies on the prepared baking sheets and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden.
  5. Let cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Decorating
  1. For the icing, whisk together powdered sugar and milk until smooth, adding more milk for a thinner consistency.
  2. Divide icing into separate bowls and tint with desired Halloween food colorings.
  3. Decorate cooled cookies with icing and Halloween sprinkles, allowing icing to set before serving.

Notes
