Marinade Chicken
- In a bowl, combine the chicken pieces with soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and cornstarch. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
Prepare Orange Sauce
- While the chicken marinates, whisk together orange juice, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, grated ginger, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
- Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency. Set aside.
Cook Chicken
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken in batches until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove the cooked chicken and place it on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
Combine and Serve
- Return all the cooked chicken to the skillet. Pour the orange sauce over the chicken and toss to coat evenly.
- Serve immediately with steamed rice and a sprinkle of sesame seeds, if desired.
Notes
For extra crispiness, you can double-fry the chicken. Fry once until lightly golden, then remove and let it rest for a few minutes before frying again until deep golden and crispy.
