Chicken Gyro Preparation (Recipes 1 & 2)
- Slice chicken breast into thin strips.
- Combine olive oil, lemon juice, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Add chicken to the marinade and mix well; refrigerate for at least 15 minutes.
- Cook marinated chicken in a large skillet over medium-high heat for 5-7 minutes until cooked through.
Tzatziki Sauce
- Grate the cucumber and squeeze out excess water.
- In a bowl, combine Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, chopped fresh dill, lemon juice, and salt.
- Mix well and refrigerate until ready to serve.
Assembly (All Recipes)
- Warm the pita bread according to package instructions.
- Spread tzatziki sauce on each warm pita.
- Fill with cooked chicken, sliced tomatoes, thinly sliced red onion, and shredded lettuce.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade chicken gyros.
Spicy Chicken Gyros (Recipe 3 - Option)
- For a spicy version, add cayenne pepper and paprika to the chicken marinade in step 2.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can grill the chicken instead of pan-frying it. Adjust spice levels according to your preference. These recipes are easily customizable with your favorite toppings like feta cheese or pepperoncini.
